On the festive occasion of `Raksha Bandhan', Laxmibai gives Nelson the permission letter to meet her brothers. She is horrified to see Samar and Karma badly tortured and vows to have them freed soon. Nelson is furious reading John's articles praising the Indians, especially Laxmibai, so he flings it. Laxmibai picks it and Nelson taunts her about being uneducated.
